I always thought I could spell well. On this quiz I only got 14 correct. I am ashamed! Crying or Very sad

I got 20 but struggled for quite a while on the one that pertains to coconut (not wishing to give answers away).

Yes, I can spell.... but unfortunately,  I can't type! Crying or Very sad

I was a bit surprised by some of the alternatives offered. Does anyone really think there's an "r" before the "k" in the word "awkward"?

16/20 Embarassed

my excuse is that I go cross-eyed after reading a screen for too long and start to see double letters where there aren't any.

I was quite surprised to get 20. I thought I would inevitably slip up somewhere. I was particularly pleased to get the "thousand years" one right, as it's one that I always have a mental block over - I usually panic and reach for the dictionary!

I got two wrong, but it doesn't appear to say which ones!

If you click 'show answers' it should do.

I would like to dedicate my score to Mrs Miller, whose weekly spelling tests filled me with dread when I was 7 (having spent most of my time at Infants' School drawing pictures of Evel Knieval and learning nothing). Though to be fair, I feared her tables tests even more!

I looked forward to tables tests, not because I particularly enjoyed them myself but because there was a girl in my class who, rather against the norm for children, said 'th' sounds instead of 'f' and 'v' - meaning that where one child would say 'finger and fumb' she would say 'thinger and thumb'. I'm sure it was early evidence of my sadistic streak that I enjoyed watching her struggle with 'elethen thors are thorty-thor' and the like.

I tried it again and I got 20/20! I didn't intentionally give any different answers so maybe it's either my eyesight or mouse-handling skills which are to blame! Laughing
