A link to the archive of the BBC board for Apple's benefit: http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/mbarts/F2234234. I'm not sure you can access it now by following links on the BBC website.

I don't think I've enjoyed any board we've had as much as the original BBC board, which was replaced in 2005. That's partly to do with the haze of nostalgia, I'm sure, but I also loved the structure of the board, the way one could see branches within threads and so on. There are also a few people from those days who have sadly fallen by the wayside - Effie, Rob Hart, David McCabe...ah, memories. I recall that for the MSN Rebel Board Simon designed a hilarious alternative version of the Beeb board's homepage as a 'welcome' image - I'd be delighted to see it again if anyone has a copy...

Luna - that's the purpose of this thread - Chibiabos put a link in his opening post.

I know, what I meant, and clearly should have said, is a permanent link - somewhere (like a Sticky/Locked thread?) on the board - the way there used to be under the links section on the MSN Board.

I had a look to see if there was a links section anywhere before I started the thread - it would be useful, but there doesn't appear to be one (not that we couldn't create another separate forum especially for links, I suppose, but my own feeling is this board's homepage is overwhelming enough as it is...). The problem with a locked thread, I think, is that if nobody posts on it it drifts down the board as it gets replaced by more recent ones. I think and hope that the Rebel Board gets mentioned here often enough that if anyone enquires we can always point them in the right direction.

If you make it a sticky thread it will stay at the top.

Oh, will it? I suppose that's why they call it sticky. I'm not very up on this new technology. Well, I'll do something about it at some point...

MikeAlx put a locked and sticky thread (Avatars) in the Any Questions section, if that's any help Smile

I have taken the liberty of setting up a separate thread as a 'sticky' to guide people to the Rebel Board.  I won't lock it, as people may want to post questions, problems registering, talk about how fab it is, etc.

Hope that's OK - Chibiabos, I don't mean to tread on your toes!  Couldn't work out how to make this one a sticky now that it's up and running, so thought it was easier just to post a new one.

In case any of the tiny constituency of Rebel Board regulars is wondering what the hell's happened to it in the past day or two, I have been in touch with Dai, its moderator, and we will do some digging around. With luck it will soon be restored to its former glory.

Just tried to access Rebel Board and got something obscuring the site and couldn’t get rid of it. What’s happened?
