How does what work, Alan? If it's this board then congratulations, you've got in. If it's Joyce's Ulysses, perseverance may be the key.

I have failed numerous times to upload a pic to this site but it won't do it.  I go to MY PICTURES and highlight it and click but nowt happens.
Just how big is a pixel - in real terms - say inches or centimetres?

Mike, do you have Microsoft Office Picture Manager on your PC? If so, load your picture on there, and place the cursor on the picture, a little box should appear giving you the dimensions of the picture in pixels. You can then, if you need to, editthe picture, and bring it down to the appropriate size.

Otherwise, you could create a free persona account in Photobucket, (http://photobucket.com/) upload your pictures there, and do the neccessary resizing.

You could right-click on the image, click on "properties" and see how large the picture is.

Then follow Himadri's advice.

Cool

I'm having problems setting up an image in my profile too. I'm just browsing my PC and selecting a bitmap image (is that acceptable?) which is only 8Kb and 54x50 pixels, but when I click on submit, the page refreshes after a few seconds and the path and filename I selected have disappeared! Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Gul.

My teenage years (which still exist for 13 days more) were spent on boards with this format, and Im delighted to say that my avatar from those days remains now. The character (I was told from a friend) is called the Supreme Kai, an apt name considering K is my initial.

Not really a question or an answer, just thought I'd share. I'd also like to share my appreciation for the setup of this board. 'Tis marvellous

There's a little ticky-box whenever I go to log on which says, 'log me on automatically on each visit'; which doesn't happen whether I tick it or not - not that I want it to anyway. What's up with that?

It works for me. It may be that your browser/security software is blocking cookies from this site (cookies are little files that websites send to your browser and ask it to store on your computer; when the browser next goes to that website it sends the cookie data to the website so that it recognises you from your previous visit).
