Just one of those quiet spells we get from time to time, I should think. They'll all come crawling back when it starts to rain every day  Very Happy

Hope you had a good break, Apple!

Off the top of my head, Mike Alx & I have been having detailed discussion on Great Expectations; Caro has been discussing what we like about poetry (and this very morning posted a bit of Houseman); Mike H has been talking about Homer's Odyssey, Zola, and Arabic poetry, and posted a lovely poem yesterday by Carew; I put up a long post on Twelfth Night; Castorboy has been posting regularly on Proust; etc. As I said, this is off the top of my head, so apologies if I missed out a few significant contributions.

There have been some good topics and discussions but just very few of them.  I am constantly being told there are no new posts for me to look at, which is always a bit disappointing, especially when I look in in the morning, after what is a whole daytime in Britain.

Never mind, these things come and go.

Cheers, Caro.

I've seen all the ones which Himadri mentions and I think Chibiabos is right, with the fact its probably down to the glorious spell of unseasonably warm and sunny weather we have been having lately!  Very Happy

Caro - I take it from your comment that you are back in New Zealand then now? (time flies past so fast!) did you enjoy your stay in the UK and see everything you wanted to?

Hi Apple, how did you get on with the new Sookie Stackhouse? Will I enjoy it when I finally get to it?

Hello all

I'm still about but I have to admit I have been pretty rubbish with my postings the last few months. It's not that I haven't been reading the posts, I simply have read very little myself the last few months. Whilst I wouldn't go as far as to say that I am experiencing 'readers block', I can't be too far off! I do have urges to pick up a book and read but they seem to be when I am nowhere near my book and when I do, there is often something which interrupts or gets in the way. I crave for a day when I can set aside an afternoon to read! I must try harder really.

Regards

Hector

I am hardly reading anything either - must also try harder, as I really miss it.  I am reading, but not very often.

Hi Apple,

Yes, we have been back a bit over a month.  Lovely to see our wee grandson, who is as cute as anything, but who we won't see now again for at least a couple of years, I suppose.   We had a week in Malta, a week in Northumberland, a few days in London, Shropshire and Wales, and the rest of the time in Sheffield where my son live.  I specially liked the landscape of Malta, and its wonderful baroque basilica, the Roman ruins at Wroxeter, and a place called Maelmin up in Northumberland, which had reconstructions and information about its history from Neolithic times, and also was the site of an airforce training place during WWII.  Lot of other bits too, Durham and Sheffield Cathedrals, Bamborough Castle, a priory near Shrewsbury and Lindisfarne.  Also a lovely little museum in London, about the Foundling hospital and its founder, who spent 17 years just getting enough interest from powerful people to allow it to be built.

Never time to do everything, though.

Cheers, Caro.
