Writer's influences

The Guardian books podcast has just started a new series where authors talk about the books that "made" them. First up is 'New Weird' writer China Mieville. You can listen online here:

Perhaps of most interest to the less genre-oriented Big Readers, Mieville is a major fan of Jane Eyre (despite having first approached the book with a teenage prejudice against 19th century fiction) and something of a detractor of Wuthering Heights.

I think this promises to be an interesting series.
