Thrillers

The categories are throwing me off.  Where do things go, like The DaVinic Code, that aren't supernatural or crime per se?

Has anyone read or gotten the Kindle for The Chopin Manuscript?  It was started by Jeffery Deaver, added to by 14 other mystery thriller writers, and finished by Deaver.  Kind of an exquisite corpse for mystery writers, pardon the pun.  It's about a lost Chopin score and a shadowy figure named Faust.

I would class Dan Brown in with Clve Cussler Tom Clancy Len Deighton Frederick Forsyth in the Thriller genre. Can't help with the Deaver Sad

Castorboy, I titled it thriller, but it seems like that has other sub-genres.  Supernatural thriller, mystery thriller, suspense thriller...

I'm not sure Dan Brown goes with Tom Clancy.  Dan Brown is like historical mystery thriller and Tom Clancy is political espionage thriller?  I'm probably just mincing words.

'Genre' can be a very tricksy area!

I've just been wondering how spy fiction relates to detective fiction.  I suppose that spy fiction is a sub-genre of detective fiction.

I'm not sure that 'thriller' is a genre, in and of itself.   As Melony said, it can be divided into so many sub-genres that the word 'thriller' becomes almost meaningless.
