Thornton W. Burgess

I am not showing my age so much with this entry.  He wrote some delightful little stories about small animals with profuse illustrations by a number of artists.  I think his most famous work is Old Mother West Wind.  Many of his books are still in print.  I don't think I bought any of his works for my children even though I read a lot of them as a child.

Hello Kitsumehime,
Thanks for drawing my attention to the work of Thornton Burgess. I have to admit that I'd never heard of him before. I chased him up via Google and now I'm wiser than I was before.

A number of his works can be read online at

Just print - the delightful illustrations were not included.
