Terry Pratchett and the TV programme

I have a bit of a dilemma.  I did want to watch the programme about his Alzheimers but now I'm not sure.   I love his books and I love him through his books ...but what if I don't like him in the programme?  Will that spoil my feelings about his books?

I don't think I'm going take the risk.....

Having seen some trailers for this I fancied the programme myself.  Then again, I'm not a fan so I don't have a problem with this.

I don't know about the programme, but unless you're worried about being upset by the onset of his Alzheimer's I'd suggest you watch it.  Whenever I see him he always comes across as very gentle and avuncular, an all-round nice guy.

No, it's not his Alzheimers I'm worried about.   I just don't like knowing about my heroes.  It usually spoils my idea about them.

What TV programme are you talking about?  I haven't heard about it.

Neither had I. See here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00hhgsb

Its a documentary on next Wed on BBC2 and continued the following week about how Terry Pratchett is living with the onset of Alzheimers.  I quite fancied seeing it when I saw it advertised, and I am the oposite since reading the postings about Terry Pratchetts books in the cup discussion and deciding that I would like to read some of his books it has made me interested in learning more about the man himself.  I'm nosy like that!  Plus I find the subject of Alzheimers an interesting one as well - for various personal reasons.

He came across pretty well when I heard him interviewed on Front Row some months back.

Pratchett is rather self-effacing and extremely likable. Below is a link to a recent interview at timesonline.

Thanks, guys - might tune into that.  I also have personal reasons for an interest in Alzheimer's, though tend to shy away from programmes about it...but am interested in Terry and hearing about how he is getting on.

I did watch this programme last night and it was superb.  Clearly Terry Pratchett is a very clever and witty man and isn't going to let a few mishaps with his Alzheimer's stop him from doing what he loves -  he went to a convention and read aloud in front of an audience until his Alzheimer's stopped him.

Brilliant.

I am looking forward to seeing the next part.

Hi Luna, I too thought the programme was good. I empathised greatly with Terry and I'm sure I would be unable to cope at all with a camera crew following me.

I watched it as well and thought it was superb and very moving, but also very inspiring.
