Simon Brett

There has been a bit of discussion about Simon Brett on the board recently, and that has led me to start reading his murder mysteries - I have nearly finished the first Mrs Pargeter novel, and it is a joy - laugh out loud funny.

He has a lovely website, which backs up people's experiences here of him being a very nice man.  I found these random jottings, and thought I'd share them here, as they made me laugh.

From there you can get to the rest of his website, should you wish.

Thanks to those fellow Big Readers who inspired me to read him!  Have long loved After Henry, especially on the radio, but am now delighted to have discovered his novels too.

He's on A Good Read when it returns on Tuesday. The only one of his books I've read is the novelisation of After Henry, which I can recommend, though the stories will be familiar.

Excellent news - both the return of AGR and that he is on it!  Didn't realise there was a novelisation of After Henry - all the better no doubt for being able to put voices to the dialogue.

Simon Brett has been a TV and radio producer in his time and was responsible for the Irene Handl MAGGIE AND HER and THE GLUMS series and many radio programmes including ISIHAC and was producer of the pilot of HITCH-HIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY. He's also a playwright and I once directed a production of his comic whodunit MURDER IN PLAY.
