Most issued books for children

I picked up a newsletter from the high school down the road which said that librarians round the world had been posting their top ten issues.  At the school their top ten issues were:

1.  Twilight by Stephanie Meyers
2.  Talking to Blue by Ken Catran (NZ author)
3.  The Recruit by Robert Muchamore
4.  Duet by David Hill (NZ author)
5.  Evermore by Alyson Noel
6.  Secret Army (Henderson boys) by Robert Muchamore
7.  The Escape (Henderson boys) by Robert Muchamore
8.  I am not Esther by Fleur Beale (NZ author)
9.  Leader of the Pack by kate Cann
10.  The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold.

The top issued book for the past decade was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by JK Rowling.

Talking to Blue is a crime thriller; I was interested to see a site with analysis which had for ethnicity of main character 'White/American' when he is a NZer.
Duet is about teenage love and pregnancy, and music.
I am not Esther (which I have read and enjoyed) is about identity and religion, a psychological thriller.

I have asked here about Robert Muchamore before.  Obviously very popular at this school, but I don't know if this is world-wide or not.  I don't read about him, but he goes out of our library very quickly too.  Has anyone here read him or have kids who do?

Cheers, Caro.

The only authors I have heard of are Nos 1 and 10. But then I don't have teenage children, or know any. I have never come across the popular Robert Muchamore. Is he an NZ author?
