Jane Austen

There did not appear to be a separate topic under JA's name. I think all the discussions must have been about particular books. But for JA fans, I post this enjoyable article which appeared a couple of weeks ago, to test your knowledge of her books. (Hope the link works  Confused )

Ten questions about Jane Austen.

Lovely!  Though surely it's Catherine Morland, not Moreland - hope he has that correct in the book...it's misspelled more than once in the article.

Some lovely snippets - I have read P&P a few times without realising that Mr Collins is only 25, and younger than Charlotte Lucas.

Think I read that  Jane wrote most of her famous  books
.... after..... her father died.

He died on 21 January 1805 ... she must have then had more time on her hands,  time to devote to writing novels.

Acutely perceptive as usual, Goldbug. I believe her first novel was published in 1811. (This is from memory and may be wrong.) She then published at the rate of nearly one novel per year until her death in 1817.

That was a very entertaining article and some of the comments underneath were interesting too. Thank you Green Jay.
