Chinese New Year

Also known as the Spring Festival and as such of interest to me, certainly in passing (Spring being my favourite time of year), this year the New Year falls on 26 January which is the day after Burns Day.

It will be the Year of The Ox which is very auspicious - apparently - for those like myself, born in the year of the Snake.

Find out what animal represents the year you were born in here :  Chinese Astrologial Signs

I'm a pig!

(no I'm not calling myself names! I was born in the year of the pig/boar or whatever you want to call it)

In the words of the classic 1970s TV series,
"The Funkiest Monkey there ever was..."

Ah, my father was born in the year of the pig and my brother in the year of the monkey!

I'm a Snake too!
Ann

I'm a rabbit and the main characteristic seems to be patheticness!
Evie

I'm a rabbit too, Ann - we can be pathetic together!  I prefer the phrase 'sensitive soul'!
Caro

I am an Ox which is quite a good thing to be in the year of the Ox but generally sounds ike a very boring solid, stolid thing to be.  Reliable and hard-working etc.  I admit to being reliable but I wouldn't call hard-working one of my attributes.  My sons are a snake, a monkey and a dog and they all suit these very well.

Cheers, Caro.

Snakes apparently are vain, selfish, a bit (!) stingy and fickle.  Neither of which applies to me, I can confidently state.

The following gives a glowing character reference for rabbits : The Rabbit

Which is where I got the information for the snake.

Apparently pigs are mean't to be gullible fools easily taken for a ride -  I don't let anyone close enough to be in that position and people say I'm too cynical for my own good so thats wrong!
Ann

Thanks, Luna, that sounds more like it! Smile  I do like a bit of positive spin.

Well, I'm a pig and I was always given to understand that pigs are intelligent and creative, so I've never had any quibbles.

So I'm a Snake...
Lazy, a bit arrogant....Wot me?

Hmm creative eh! I suppose that's true (not too sure about the intelligent part though!) I have read that they are also very loyal friends - thats true, I'll always be there for my mates!

Am I the only Dragon on the Board?

Quite possibly. My wife's a dog - it strikes me this is the only context in which I could say that without risking my testicles!  Wink
Not_Smart_Just_Lucky

Even in that context, that was brave

I'm a dragon too! Makes me think of Hylda Baker I don't know why. Though I am far far younger, though a dragon generation or two older than Lucky.
