Cause CelebreI enjoyed the BBC Radio 4 production of Rattigan's "Cause Celebre" broadcast yesterday.
It seems ironic that a play written for radio should be turned into a stage production and then the stage version produced as a radio play. This had the same cast as the recent Old Vic acclaimed production and Anne-Marie Duff was excellent as the notorious Alma Rattenbury.
I'm a sucker for court room dramas and Nicholas Jones was devastating as the barrister O'Connor. The theme of a counsel defending his client by destroying another person's reputation had a topical resonance in view of the Milly Dowler case and the trial of Levi Bellfield.
