Anne Widdercombe

Did anyone else listen to Anne Widdercombe this morning on spinsters? Most of it was about spinsters in literature. I loved her comments about Jane Austen and Barbara Pym and there were some brilliant excerpts from the films of Great Expectations and The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie.

Just listened to it on "listen again". I liked the synonym "single blessedness" for spinster.

I always find her good value. I don't always agree with what she says but she is an intelligent woman. I was interested by her book The Clematis Tree which I thought very well written. I've not read her other(s).
