It's Christmas Eve tomorrow (in case you hadn't realised!!!), so I just thought I'd start a thread to wish everyone on the board (and all the lurkers!) a very happy Christmas - and a very *safe* one, to those who are travelling. Please drive carefully!  And if you are using public transport, may all your trains be running and all your buses use only major roads...

So - a very happy and peaceful Christmas to one and all - hope you find a bit of time to do some lovely reading amid all the hecticness!

Merry Christmas and Happy New year from me too!

I'm feeling very deprived though,Crying or Very sad  the whole country except us is looking extremely christmassy with all the heavy snow, but we seemed to miss it all! All we have had was a very light dusting which barely covered the ground on Saturday night, which is still lying in places due to the extremely harsh frosts and and freezing fog we have been getting

We haven't had much here either, but I am very glad - however lovely it looks, it just causes havoc!  We have lots of ice, which I *hate*, it makes all the necessary food shopping even harder (I don't drive).  Just call me Ebenezer!

Have a great Christmas, Apple, even if you don't get any snow (you may still get some!).

Merry Christmas everyone!

We had snow for a couple of days, then absolutely lethal ice, especially on our pavement. I had to park the car round the corner for several days to guarantee being able to get out to work. Getting George to and from the car (amidst refusals to go in the pushchair) has been a challenge!

Mike try giving George a choice 'Do you want to hold Daddy's paper in the buggy or the parcel?' (I always had a couple of unimportant items ready) it made my awkward sons feel important and got over the I want to walk moment.

Merry Christmas to you all - already Christmas Eve here.  (But I have a full working day.)

Giving a choice works with older people as well as toddlers.  When I had a young Japanese boy staying once, I couldn't easily find out what he wanted to do; he liked to be obliging, so if I asked if he wanted to come to town with me he would always say "yes".  After I while I learnt to couch these questions in a choice and would ask if he wanted to come with me or to stay at home.

Cheers, Caro.

I don't envy you the ice - horrid stuff to walk on or drive on.  At least in Britain people salt it quickly; here salt is not approved and we just have to drive carefully and hope.  They do grit the roads but it's not as effective.

and a VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS from me too.
We've just had our first snow here and, having seen all the horror stories on the road, it has made me rather frightened.
I hope you all find some lovely books in your stockings jocolor
